George Foreman GR18BWI Review by Madman With A Camera "Have camera will shoot!" (Niskayuna, NY USA)

First let me counter the previous reviewer:

1) What's to explain? you plug it in, put your food on it and wait. Orange light means it's on..duh.
2) Only one Foreman grill has an on/off switch..minor inconvienence and I'd rather unplug it then forget to turn it off.
3) You failed to heed warning not to force the lid closed no doubt.
4) Fits 2 6oz burgers just fine.
5) Idea is to "drain the fat". That's teh POINT of the grill to remove that disgusting grease from teh burgers, etc. If they are too dry, you're overcooking them or using 73% lean beef..lol.

I've used this about 4 times since I got it a week or so ago. Couple times for burgers, once for chicken and once for hotdogs.

- Frozen burgers cook in about 8 mins. The grease catch nearly fills...but the burgers still have flavor and juicy. Just don't over cook them...that's when they dry out.

- Chicken cools fast, but does stick more then beef. Little shot of Pam would do the trick probably. Again, DON'T OVERCOOK or chicken will dry out.

- Frozen hotdogs cooked in 5 mins...nice a plump. Good dogs produced little grease...

- Cleanup...takes about 2 mins, a damp spoonge and some paper towels....wait for it to cool, but still slightly warm for easiest cleanup. As with anything that has contact with grease, use a mild dishwashing detergent and warm water to clean. then rinse with cold water on paper towels.

For some of the other comments I read below. I don't see it tipping over unless you have a earthquake or a unstable surface. The grease tray shouldn't tip either if it's not bumped into hard. Sounds to me that those complaining about this have a small kitchen and no counter space for it and bump into it a lot.

So far, I"m happy. I'm able to cook a little healthier and quicker and safer. (last time I cooked burgers in a frying pan, had every smoke alarm in house go off..lol).

I'll post another review if it dies in a year. ;)

Worked great for grilling fish and meat - not so good for chicken. Died soon after the 1 year warranty expired.

George Foreman GR18BWI Review by P. Sherman (Greenville, FL USA)

It could be because it's almost impossible to clean this without the risk of getting water into the mechanism, maybe that's what happened. Two short months after getting it, it sits dead on the counter after failing to come on tonight. Truth is, I also found that it toughened up the surface of pork chops cooked in it--you can't cut back on the cooking time because it's pork, so you end up with a leathery surface that has to be peeled off because it is inedible. But mostly you can't clean these things! Hamilton Beach makes grills with removable parts for safe and easy cleaning--why bother with trying to clean this without getting water on the bottom?

George Foreman GR18BWI::Description

Topped by a bun warmer with a transparent, bright indigo lid, this 800-watt grill is another variant of the popular George Foreman Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine. Its appeal lies in its simplicity and countertop convenience--not to mention its fat-fighting ability. The double-sided grill (with a 7-by-9-inch nonstick cooking surface) is large enough to simultaneously cook three burgers, steaks, or chicken breasts--or lots of sausage, fish, shrimp, or vegetables--on the top and bottom in minutes. (Recipes accompany the grill.) Grill marks not only look appetizing but also contribute caramelized flavor. The bottom grill's deep channels collect fat, and the grill is sloped so the fat runs off into a dishwasher-safe plastic tray (two are included) stationed under the unit's front. The top grill's hinge floats to accommodate foods of varying thickness.
